I can never say enough wonderful things about The Guild House.  The staff (who are volunteers, in case you didn't know) are always so gracious and fun.  I just feel special while I am there.  And the food is fantastic as well.  I never even bother to check the menu for the day before I go.  I just look forward to the surprise reveal when I get there, knowing it will be delicious.  There is always a hot food item and a salad featured, so you do have some choice.  Take a friend and enjoy the charm of the old house while you have the best lunch in town!

Every time I go to the Guild House I come away feeling like a Queen. The food is fabulous, the ambiance perfect, staff wonderful - I could never say enough about this "little piece of history" that is still alive. To miss the Guild House is to miss one of Bakersfield's finest.

Having lunch with 4 sisters at the Guild House just made me miss my mother all the more since she passed away some 12 years ago. The beauty of the smiles and twinkling eyes of the elderly ladies serving us and making our special lunch as sweet as if they were all dear aunts, made The Guild House dear to my heart. Lunch started with the best Cream of Celery Soup that left all of us scraping our bowls, drawing the amused attention of our attendants. We all shared in the Pork Roast with Apricot Chutney which was absolutely the most flavorful and tender meat we had enjoyed in such a long time. Fresh-baked rolls and a crisp salad, along with delicious mashed potatoes were the perfect compliment for the pork. And just when we thought it couldn't get much better, we each were served a slice of Pineapple Cake with Cream Cheese frosting. The bits of toasted coconut scattered about the top made it easy to eat with abandon, just like we would if we were at home with Mom in the old days. Awww...The Guild House...almost like home...but Mom would have made us do the dishes! Thanks for the memories!
