In the eyes of *this* pizza aficionado, Jimano's is first rate. Crust is perfect, sauce has the unforgettable zing of a 1970's mid-western pizza parlor, and the flavorful cheese and topping only add to it all.

I'm limited on time during my lunch break, so its quick to go grab a giant slice or or the different cold sandwiches they now offer. My family and I always like to go and dine in for dinner and watch the Monday Night Football games. They always have great specials going on, and its nice that they offer so many options in food so its accommodating for everyone. Service is always great and very friendly from the second you walk in. You get so much food for the price and the Deep Dish is so filling! I definitely recommend it to my friends and family.

I had a gift certificate for 20 dollars and asked over the phone if I could use a gift certificate for delivery. I was told it was not a problem! This was a pleasant surprise!
We ordered the weekend special which included an 18 inch pizza with two toppings, a two liter beverage and bread sticks with sauce. I must say, the pizza was AMAZING. By far the best I have had in town. We chose italian sausage and sauted bell peppers as our topping choices.
My husband, a man who hates pizza but will eat it on occasion because I like it, loved it and even brought the leftovers with him to work! The bread sticks are flavored very nicely and the sauce was very fresh. When the pizza craving hits again, I will most definitely be making a call to Jimano's!

I have been there a few times for lunch and found the giant slice lunch special to be a great value. You get slices at least the same size as what they serve at Costco but with much better taste and quality. I recently took my wife there for dinner. We both came away totally impressed with how delicious and non-greasy our pizza was. We split the small pizza and both had plenty to eat. And I know how to destroy a pizza.
Don't leave without grabbing a brownie!

Believe me we want to open a location in the Southwest. That will be our second location. Thanks for the review.
My party, which included young children, ate here for lunch...
My party, which included young children, ate here for lunch the first time today. The staff was friendly, yet non-intrusive. They waited on customers, prepared the food quickly, and seemed to actually care if you liked the food, 5 stars.
The restaurant is clean and well ordered, with three big flat screen TVs all turned to the same channel which was a sports channel with no foul commercials (which I especially liked). There are no booths in the restaurant and there is a clear path to the counter, the drink machine, and the bathroom. There are also no arcade toys but there are board games and crayons available which is a neat option. 5 stars.
According to another reviewer there are "lunch specials". I assume that the "lunch special" is the pizza sold by the slice that another customer tried to order but was told that it was only available during the weekday. By how that customer ordered it she seemed to be a returning customer. I can understand my mistake assuming a "lunch special" during the weekend but I never found any information about pizza sold by the slice on the big menu. Again this maybe my issue but ultimately I have to knock them for menu clarity regarding this point, 3 stars.
We went for the weekend special which was an 18" two topping on thin crust, with bread sticks that included red sauce, and 4 fountain drinks or a 2 liter of soda to go for $25 before tax. My family can normally kill two mediums so it should tell you something that half of the pizza accompanied us home. So value price to food quantity ratio, 5 stars.
We received the bread sticks quickly. They are very buttery and served with a bit of Parmesan cheese. The red sauce is hearty with a bit of meat in it. The fountain drinks are complete with standard soda choices, water, lemonade, punch and zero calorie peach green tea options. Regular brewed iced tea is also a choice but it was a little strong for my dinner partner. The pizza arrived at about the time we were through with the bread sticks. It was piping hot, and I mean piping! It is a round pizza cut into squares so the kids really liked the no crust slices. The signature thin crust is thinner than any other pizza you have had at about a quarter inch thick. The red sauce on the pizza is mild, yet flavorful. The quantity of topping of cheese and toppings is awesome, and quite tasty. The assembly is quite different to most places with the meat under the cheese and on top of the sauce. I think because these ingredients are assembled in this way the pizza retains more moisture which lead to the slight wateriness that other reviewers were talking about. I personally like my meats roasted on top of the crust just to make sure any raw ingredients get cooked thoroughly (I'm a little paranoid), but they are so friendly they would probably assemble it that way if I requested it. We only ordered meat toppings so I have no idea if all toppings are assembled in this way. We are not huge fans of thin crusts but it is probably superb for someone who is, just not for us, 3 stars.
All in all we look forward to trying Jimano's again and are excited to have a new cultural hot spot from Chicago in little old Bakersfield.

I've been coming to Jimano's since it opened many months...
I've been coming to Jimano's since it opened many months ago. In my opinion, it is the best pizza in town! We moved here from Chicago a few years back and were upset that the only "real" Chicago deep dish pizzas that we could find were in LA or when we go to the coast. My only suggestion is that Jimano's switch the names of the "deep dish" and "stuffed" pizzas. The first time I ordered from there, I asked for the deep dish pizza and it was definitely not what I expected and what most Chicagoans would expect--that's the "stuffed" one. So now I have to mentally remember that I need to order the "stuffed" pizza since we always want the Chicago style deep dish pizza. Just a suggestion.
Otherwise, I've always had great service. We've never eaten in the restaurant but always get it for take out so that we can enjoy it at home. They have awesome appetizers and pizzas to die for. When you walk out with their massive pizzas, they're stuffed so much with ingredients, cheese and sauce that it feels like they weigh a few pounds.
Great job, Jimanos! We hope you continue to be successful and that Bakersfield supports you. I always order pizza from there for parties so that more of my friends can try it and see how real pizza should taste.
Business response:
Thank you for the Great Review. Jim
Jimanos owner and staff really are responsive to customer...
Jimanos owner and staff really are responsive to customer feedback. It is clear from the conversations I've had with everybody in the place that they are excited about their product and that they are hustling all day each day to deliver it. I am a native Chicagoan baking my own stuffed pizza at home, before Jimanos came to Bakersfield. There are so many ways to spice and flavor a Chicago pizza, you couldn't possibly please everybody. Each time we have presented Jimano's at the office lunch, though, the reviews have been great. Regarding the "salty" taste I've had that experience myself a couple of times. And I did ask about it. It might be in the sauce or perhaps in the parmesan cheese on top. Not sure. Sometimes I have not noticed at all. When it does taste a little sharp I've mixed some honey into the sauce and all is superb.
Mr. Reed thank you for your passion and 2am response. We also enjoy your ribs and the tiramisu. You have a great group of people working for you and I always feel my money and business are valued in your store.

This place is a breath of fresh air in an otherwise stale pizza town (with the exception of plumberry's of course). You can purchase less expensive pizza's at other restaurants in town, but you definately get what you pay for. The chese is amazing, the toppings are fresh and the portions are huge (assuming you order the deep dish). This place is similar to a Pizzeria Uno or other chicago deep dish pizza joints you find in the mid west, with the exception that everything is fresh, cooked to a perfect crisp and the employees are always friendly and courteous. There is a stratification of flavors when served hot, and when you consume the pizza the following day (cold of course), all the flavors melt together for a totally different-but equally great experience. For all you play golf, you will recognize that entoxicating aroma of pizza from the 4th tee box. So please, give this place a try. It's love at first sight and ecstasy upon consumption. I would hate for this place not to succeed because bakersfield needs more variety in the culinary scene and this place provides it.
Business response:
Thank you for your kind words. We love our customers and I hope the food shows it. Jim

My husband and I are originally from the Chicago area, and we are very familiar with what a Chicago pizza should be like. After being disappointed with most of the other pizzerias in town that offer "Chicago pizza" (hardly), we decided to try Jimano's. The pizza wasn't entirely what we expected from Chicago pizza (no sauce on top, but cheese on top instead), but it was delicious. By far the closest Chicago pizza we've found in this town. It was delicious, piled on with toppings, and it was ready for pick up in 30 minutes (most places in this town offer "fast" delivery/pick up in 45 min to an hour). I was pretty pleased in that they offer green olives -- not many places around here do that either. When we picked up our pizza, we were greeted by a very friendly staff, and the pizza and sides were very reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend this pizzeria, and my husband and I will go back again to try more of their menu.
Business response:
I am so glad you enjoyed the pizza, Next time try the stuffed pizza it's the one with the sauce on top.(It's Incredible!!!) Thank you, Jim

Great Place!!! The employees are always very friendly and very helpful. The wait is great its only about 30 mins. for a hot, fresh pizza. We have eaten in about 3 times and ordered out about twice. Through that we have learned that you have to order a smaller size than you do at other places. Very filling pizza... Poor us huh??, we even usually even have leftovers. Great value and great pizza!!!!

The atmosphere is charming and helps keep the replay value high, so I can definitely tell you all that this is a great family dine-in! :)

An insult to Chicago Style pizza and pizza in general. We tried the thin and the “Chicago Style” deep dish...BOTH WERE TERRIBLE. Regarding the Chicago Style deep-dish, at Jimano’s, they put the sauce on the dough first, then the veggies/meat, and then the a thick layer of cheese. That makes for a soggy crust because the moisture from the fresh veggies under a layer of cheese on top acting as barrier, basically steams the veggies and makes the dough soggy. Chicago Style deep-dish isn’t made like this. The crust is supposed to be a flaky & buttery with the sauce on top…not like a doughy bread bowl of goo with the sauce and veggies under the cheese..what is that?? Not to mention the toppings don’t cook correctly and come out more bland than if they are cooked on top of the pizza where the excess moisture can evaporate and allow the toppings to get more roasted instead of steamed, making them more flavorful. The thin-crust pizza was also on the doughy side and it was ridiculous. There’s wasn’t any kind of “crunch” that a thin pizza crust should have and the cheese was like unflavored plastic. I did like the sauce though. IMHO, the crust is the deal breaker, if the crust isn’t prepared or cooked correctly it ruins the entire pizza. Maybe we came on a bad night or something, if that’s the case, they should really work on their quality control! My husband and I lived in Chicago and ate plenty of deep-dish pizza and this isn’t it! This was our first time having Jimano’s and will NEVER AGAIN! I can think of 10 other places in town that have better pizza. What a waste of money and calories on something that tasted soooooo bad! My husband and I were truly insulted, we were really hoping for a good Chicago Style deep-dish pizza!! If you want to know what a true Chicago-style deep dish pizza is all about…check out these websites http://www.loumalnatis.com http://www.giordanos.com/main.php http://www.unos.com/
I can’t comment on the other food items on the menu since we didn’t try them, but the Jimano's in Bakersfield has a funky/terrible interpretation of Chicago Style deep-dish & thin-crust pizza.
Business response:
I really would like to read this one star review that you gave us. I'm not sure what happened maybe you just had a bad day and wanted to take it out on us. If you are going to give us a bad review at least let us read it! Thanks Jim @ Jimano's
Conewton1 does make for a fair review for all dudes out...
Conewton1 does make for a fair review for all dudes out there, lolz. However, I truly do have to at least somewhat disagree.
First off, why is it a big fuss to wait about 30 minutes for a pizza? Jimano's Pizzeria serves big pizzas, and the workers use excellent ingredients for them and put on lots of cheese. So when considering the quality of the pizza dish, no dude out there could really complain about 30 minutes. In fact, compared to other places such as Pizza Hut or Domino's, that's actually pretty darn quick man. I've had to wait over 45 minutes at those other places, but Jimano's pizza is way better.
And another note, combination pizzas are actually supposed to have a watery tang to them because of the use of fresh ingredients. Tomatoes, olives, peppers, and onions are vegetables, right? So... that means that fresh onions and tomatoes would more than likely have that watery tang to it. That's why some pizza restaurants out there serve pizza dishes with "dried tomatoes," because tomatoes are naturally supposed to be watery. And so if we get watery toppings here at Jimano's Pizzeria, then that's actually good because it tells you that the ingredients are fresh.
And as for the restaurant ladies and kids, all I can say is that this place is absolutely awesome by all means. The workers are very friendly and serve great food at great prices, and they often have some lunch specials worth biting into. A++ from me and my family. :)
Business response:

First time to this establishment. Read the menu online and everything sounded really good. There were only two couples in there during the hour and a half the 8 of us (all adults) were there. However it took 30 minutes for our combination pizza the "The Beast" pizza to be served. I had a side salad with ranch dressing. The combination pizza wasn't too bad except that it was watery between the toppings and the crust. The beast pizza arrived with the bottom of the crust scorched/burned black in some spots. We didn't send either of these back as we didn't have time to wait another 30 minutes. The dressing for the salad had been watered down and was tasteless. Not too sure if we will return to give them another try. If we do, it won't be for pizza!
Business response:
Thank you for your comments, at Jimano's we strive to do our best sometimes we miss the mark. I hope that you will give us another chance. The Pizza Was Excellent! Everything Jim (The Owner) said it would be. Everyone from the kids to the adults loved the pizza. I think we found a new favorite pizzeria. We ordered the thin crust for the kids and its was cut square style, which is great for young kids, they get a whole piece but no wasting. My wife and I really enjoyed the deep dish Chicago style. I liked that it wasn't greasy like a lot of deepdish pizzas are. I think I will try the Stuffed next time.

Their stuffed pies are fantastic. After living in the Chicago area for years I know what a stuffed pizza is supposed to be, and I was thrilled to find that Jimano's is the real deal. Flaky, chewy, buttery crust? Check! Almost two inches tall? Check! Quality cheese, sausage, and veggies piled inside? Check! Tangy, homestyle tomato sauce slathered on top of it all? Check! The supreme stuffed pizza in the second-to-biggest size is heavy enough to almost require two people to carry it to the car, and only the most ravenous can put away more than one huge slice in a sitting.
We've always picked up the pizza to go, but it seems clean, efficient, and friendly inside--and they get bonus points for all the love they show the Chicago Cubs on the walls. Folks who go there and order things like ribs, onion rings, and thin crust pies must be outta their minds. Try the stuffed pizza. Trust me.

Jimano's Pizzeria is a small pizza chain that also serves a variety of food including breadsticks, salads, ribs, drinks, and desserts. There is a daily bakery in this small, yet cute, dining room, and clean restrooms are included unlike some of your other pizza "palaces" in Bakersfield like Shakey's Parlor or Mountain Mike's. And don't laugh yet, there is more to read about this wonderful restaurant.
I love the fact that the last 2 reviews of this place don't even mention the service being good, not to mention the excellent atmosphere and other unique aspects. If we're paying the dollars, we deserve to know more than just "good" pizza. Good food can come from anywhere, even from a place that has a filthy dining room.
Anyways, the service is very good here. The owner of this place is extremely friendly, and so are his workers. It reminds me of a great restaurant in Oregon, nothing but organization and friendliness.
There is a variety of different kinds of pizza here. You could get one with a thin crust, one with a thick crust, or even a cheesepie with plenty of cheese. There are also ribs and salads here. The salads are very fresh with plenty of moist, and the ribs come cooked like no other pizza restaurant here in Bakersfield. In fact, the BBQ items at Jimano's outmatch alot of other restaurants in California, which is a great relief.
The atmosphere is great, but the dining room can be a bit too small. The reason for this opinion is because you have to walk up to a soda fountain to get a drink refilled. What does this mean? It means that I will be walking around tables and chairs alike, just to get a refill. That, can be frustrating. At least you can make your drink however you want it, and the soda fountain is always clean here.
I have been a customer here for only 3 months, and that is partly due to the fact that this restaurant is fairly new here. While in the area, I highly recommend it. Don't go to Taco Bell on Hageman, Jimano's Pizzeria has cheaper lunch specials than them, and with much better food and service.
I give this place: 7 bananas out of 10. (GOOD)
I love bananas...

We stopped in to eat at Jimanos and tried their onion rings to start with. They are excellent!!! The pizza crust is the best we have had. You get a lot of pizza for the price. Definately recommend!
Closet thing to Midwest style pizza in town
There's a place on the east side that claims to be Detroit-style pizza but unfortunately it's nothing close to the pizza served in the midwest from my youth and college years. I'm not talking about Deep Dish, which Jimano's offers, I'm talking about a thin crust with thick chunks of Italian sausage, fresh mushroom, and an ample supply of mozzarella cheese that nobody in town offers. They also have green olives, which we haven't found at any other pizza place in town. That's my wife's favorite topping.
I've never been a fan of deep dish pizza so we haven't tried their speciality but the thin crust and double crust are both excellent. If you're a Midwest transplant and looking for a taste of home -- Jimano's is the place.
