I hate to be mean but we did try this place after all the wonderful reviews but to us it was just ok. Wonderful people that work there and the service was awesome but the food was no big deal and we were all ready for this outstanding food that everyone had been talking about. We ordered a pepperoni pizza, lasagna, onion rings, potato wedges and a salad. we wanted to try lots of stuff so that's why we ordered all that food. the pizza was greasy and very limp. the lasagna was plain jane, the onion rings were orida, the wedges were very good. The garlic bread was not good at all. We traveled from the rosedale area to try this place and sorry to say we wont go back any time soon.. But like i said; the staff was great...

Awesome food and service! Highly recommend this place.

I have read several reviews about this place and finally had the chance to try them out this last weekend. I have to say that this is among the best pizza that I've had in Bakersfield.

We really like this place. Friends took us before a BC game. The BBQ chicken pizza is delicious and so is the spaghetti. As others have mentioned, the staff is very nice.

This is the best unappreciated pizza plus Italian food restaurant in town.  People need to venture into the wilds of the Northeast area of Bakersfield - remember BC football games?  Go to L.A. Pizza Veloz this fall and then see the Renegades.

This pizza is number 2 behind Pizzaville. The ingredients are fresh, the food is great, and the employees are very helpful and nice. Did I mention the prices?  I would have to say in the price department this place is number 1.  I could eat here everyday.  Sorry Rusty's Pizza, you might have great ranch and potato wedges but you have priced yourself waaaaaay out of my wallet.   As an added bonus if you live within 2 miles of La Pizza Veloz there is nooooooo delivery charge!!!!!!

I went as soon as I had read the Pete Tittl review online. I ordered the calzone and enjoyed it a lot. I think that most people that enjoy pizza and calzones would love this place, too. It's so good!

Very good thinner crust pizza.  I did not know the place existed until I read the review by Pete.  Good selection of toppings for the pizza, and reasonable prices, too.  They also offer a a selection of traditional Italian meals.  We have been there several times, and have not been disappointed.  Call in your order and go pick it up if you want.

Great food...good service. Three if us ordered something different to get a taste of different items. I tried a slice of their combo pizza....the sauce had a very good flavor. I also had some of the chicken picatta over penne pasta...different with shredded chicken but still had a good flavor. I ordered the cheese ravioli with oil and garlic. It was very good but I was a little disappointed that they did not use fresh garlic... which would have made it even better! Now if they only had Chicken Marsala on their menu ;)

Two miles further than Rusty's, but worth the drive to pick up a pizza.  Bye bye Rusty's.

I'd like to have this place take over Hot Stone Pizza (Brimhall/Calloway) on my side of town!  Despite the run down shopping center L.A. Pizza Veloz, our family really enjoyed it.  Great $9.99 large, three-item pizza deal.  The chicken wings weren't Goose Loonies caliber but most pizza places never get them right.  The menu was pretty extensive and there was definitely a steady stream of people.  I hope this place thrives and that the owner buys out Hot Stone!

This place is amazing!!!  Service was a bit slow on a Friday night during the dinner rush hour but not excruciating.  I ordered the cheese tortellini with pesto sauce ($8.99 dinner portion with a small side salad and garlic bread) which was absolutely divine!  My hubby ordered the eggplant parmesan which he said was equally as delicious.  Our bill was a bit under $25 for two adults and one child.  The place was also very child friendly which is a plus when you have a rowdy two-year old.  We definitely recommend this place for good, cheap eats.  We added this to our list of regular places to have dinner.

Just tried this little jewel for the first time.  Took the family.  We ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, pepperoni calzoni, meat pizza, and lasagna.  We shared it all.  My only complaint - and I mean only - is that the calzone did not "look" like I had expected.  It was more of a top and bottom pizza, round in shape opposed to the usual crescent shape pie.  Without question their sauce is unique.  It starts off sweet and ends up with a little kick.  I am grateful that Pete Tittel did his review for us to be enticed into going.  We live across town from this joint but will certainly keep it in mind for any Italian cravings.

I was introduced here by a friend of my who orders pizza from here A LOT. Once I had a bite, I knew I was hooked. I took my husband for dinner and new he's hooked too. There pizza is like NO other!! Because they use marinara sause, and not your typical pizza or tomatoe sause, it gives the pizza a "fresh" taste. Not to mention they make the sause daily on site!!
The service we received there was AWESOME!! And that was with a bit of an evening rush.
I highly recommend that you too recommend them to those who have been there.

We found this gem several months ago.  We have both eaten in and picked up take out.  Service has been very good either way.  In Pete Tittle's review in the paper 1/8/09, he mentioned that the same items on the dinner menu are on the lunch menu for much less.  They are exactly the same -- both in quality and amount.
He did not mention the spinach pizza.  We have a friend who is vegetarian, so ordered this.  Even the carnivores thoroughly enjoy this one, and we have ordered it several more times.  All the pizzas that we have taken out have been of good quality.  And if you take one of their paper menus, there are coupons on the back page for Pizzas at a discount.
I hope the review brings in many customers, as I would hate to see them go under.  Even if we might have to start waiting for a table when we dine in, and might not get all the personal attention that we get now.

Finally, a restaurant that is actually not from a chain! XD
Do any of you guys get sick and tired of those franchise people who do not know what they are doing? Think back 15 years ago, think back 15 years. Has the whole McDonald's chain gotten better or worse?
Note: there is no right answer to that question
You see, that is why it is important to go to each individual store location to see what's up. Don't be one of those negative type of people who feel that places stink because they are as they are. Um, excuse me? If the place doesn't fit you, why do you go there? There ARE other restaurants, you know, like this one!
Now, where do I begin with this one? Oh yes! The location is definitely a looker. The moment you see that mexican flag standing out from the roof, you know that you are getting something different. Hey, nothing wrong with that. In fact, isn't the mexican flag like the italian flag? I think they are trying to be a bit creative. ;)
Great food here! They taste pretty good, especially when considering the prices. The prices for the pizza are very cheap, partly due to the fact that their pizza here doesn't have tomato sauce. Well, it does, but it is a special recipe of it. It isn't the expensive kind, and yet it is delicious. I like that, it makes me feel like I am trying something new. But you don't have to eat pizza, you could also have pasta with the works.
Service is very good. The people here exemplify the traditional business workers. It is family owned, and they are concerned for your needs here.
All in all, this restaurant is a must go while in the area. Try them out, you might enjoy it.

This has become a staple for us after church on Sunday nights.  They are quick and deliver great quality at an affordable price.  I highly reccomend the Angel Hair Pasta with fresh tomatoes and basil.  Check it out!

Gotta Love It! The Pride of NE Bakersfield

L.A. Pizza Veloz is a family-owned, family-oriented, unassuming restaurant located on Mt. Vernon Avenue across from Bakersfield College. The owner, Carlos Delgado, is from El Salvador and started out in the restaurant business in Los Angeles before uprooting to Bakersfield.
The restaurant is a neighborly place tucked away in a small, nondescript shopping complex. Absolutely nothing is fancy about the interior but maybe that is why the prices are so decent. The modest restaurant occupies a single long room. Local sports memorabilia adorn the walls as well as its consistent “A” rating emblems. Eight at last count.
This is one of my favorite restaurants in Bakersfield. It is quite unlike any other Italian experience in town. It offers the freshest ingredients. It is high quality Italian food. The atmosphere is casual, friendly and the service fantastic. The prices are so reasonable. The lunch specials available Monday through Friday are the best bargain. On one visit I chose the Penne Pasta with Marinara meat sauce. The pasta was perfect served al dente. The meat sauce had an almost sweet flavor. It is home-made and prepared fresh twice daily. It also came with a small but ample green salad with your choice of dressing and two pieces of garlic bread all for $5.99. Sandwiches are also featured in the daily lunch specials as well and come with French fries and a can of soda for the same price.
The pizza is the best in the city -- the sauce....the cheese....the crust.... unbelievable! The pies come to the table on stainless steel trays with tongs fit for unfussy royalty. You can forget grease and gobs of cheap cheese. They only use Virgin olive oil and top quality cheeses. This place will definitely change the way you look at pizza. My personal favorite is the Deluxe Combination. I enjoy it topped with cilantro. They even make a Tuna Melt Pizza with marinara sauce, mozzarella cheese, red onion slices and albacore tuna that is yummy. It isn’t on the menu. You just have to ask and they will be happy to make one for you. There are always outstanding new surprises. Oh Da Calzone!!! Mama Mia!!! Fuera de este mundo.
Personally, I like to support locally owned restaurants versus the chains. I encourage you to take your friends for a delicious dining experience. However, be warned. If culinary snobbery is what you are after forget L.A. Pizza Veloz.
