We went out of our way to go to this store because I heard they carried Hood Calorie Countdown Milk. The store is very clean and the employees are very friendly. They have a good selection of items. I found the milk that Wal-Mart stopped carrying. One
I think that Smith's Bakery is the best in town. It cannot help the fact that "the neighborhood has gone to the dogs." Gas is no longer 30 cents a gallon and bread is no longer five cents. I am not as young as I once was, and not as nice,
I grew up on Pacific Street in the 60s-70s, when the area was a nice place to live and Smith's was a nice place to go. I have great memories of my teachers at Longfellow bringing Halloween cookies from Smith's. My parents would bring home great treats

Here's the deal... Smith's is a tradition. Anyone who grew up in Bakersfield has been given their happy face sugar cookie as a child.... even though their products are not the best, you can't put a price on nostalgia... it's great for what it is....
I'm sorry I just don't get the whole Smith's thing. I have yet to have anything of quality from this place. Perhaps someday Bakersfield will have a real bakery,
